[Hawthorne, CA] – Jose Luis Garcia Injured in Hit-and-Run bicycle accident
15-Year-Old Boy Hit On Bicycle By Oncoming Traffic In Tragic Hit And Run
HAWTHORNE, CA (October 6, 2020) – Jose Luis Garcia, age 15, sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash. Furthermore, the accident happened on Doty Avenue, on Friday, Oct. 2.
Moreover, the bicycle accident happened around 7:30 a.m. Incidentally, this was at the intersection of Doty Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue.
First, Jose Luis Garcia rode his bike north across Rosecrans Avenue. He was using a marked crosswalk on Doty Avenue.
Then, an eastbound car in the left lane of Rosecrans Avenue struck him. Unfortunately, he was struck at a high rate of speed.
Because of this, Jose Luis Garcia suffered a major head injury and a broken right arm. He also broke his left leg from the knee down. Not to mention, he fractured both ankles and feet.
First responders were able to transport him to a local hospital. Wherefore, he was taken to the ICU in critical condition.
Concurrently, the driver failed to stop at a red light. Police say that the suspects’ vehicle was a white four-door Toyota, possibly a Camry.
Also, the police added that the vehicle probably has extensive front-end and front windshield damage.
