Walnut Creek, CA (September 1, 2020) Zakiya Thomas, 18 years old, was identified Monday by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as one of the three people who passed in a tragic car crash.
The car accident occurred on Tuesday, on August 25, 2020 at around 10:40 p.m in Walnut Creek by the North Main Street off-ramp near Highway 680.
According to the California Highway Patrol the Pontiac Grand Prix being driven was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed. The car unexpectedly swerved off the highway into roadside vegetation and head-on into a tree.
The collision with the tree caused the car to catch fire while the three occupants remained trapped inside.
